My Undergraduate Thesis

Environmental services are the services provided by the ecosystem functions that have direct and indirect benefits to human well being. The purpose of this study is to analyze environmental services changes in the District and City of Bogor on 1990 and 2014. The focus of the study is analyzing the environmental service of carbon stock, carbon sinks, biodiversity, the aesthetic of landscape, water regulation and climate amelioration. The data collection method began with data preprocessing then followed by a groundcheck  at field to take sample point, after that followed by image classification that produce land cover. Land cover that has been classified then given the value of environmental services by changing the format of raster into a polygon. The average value of environmental services in District of Bogor on 1990 is 4.86  and in the city of Bogor is 4.56, while on 2014 the average value of environmental  services in District of  Bogor is 4.54  and in the City of Bogor is 3.72. Change of environmental services in the City of Bogor greater than in District of Bogor due to the magnitude of changes in land cover types of forest to other land cover especially for settlement. Beside that, it is also caused by differences of development policy between  Bogor district and city of Bogor. The focus of development in the district is agricultural production sector and the city are trading and services sectors. Government of City and Distric of Bogor should do some efforts for maintaining and even improving environmental services by allocating space for land which dominated by trees and agroforestry system.

Two Holy Cities (Makkah and Madinah), freedom in Islamic Sharia application, amenities, harmoniuous life and technolgy advance, that is Saudi Arabia which has great  vision in 2030 that is " The heart of the Arab and Islamic Worlds, The Investment Powerhouse and The Hub Connecting Three Continents" and  I had ever seen and experienced when I was in my Umrah journey with my family last December 2015. The memory makes me want to experience again the loveable life in Saudi Arabia.

Introduce my name is Azar Rachdian, now I am 23 years old. I was graduated from Forest Resources Conservation and Ecotourism Bogor Agricultural University. I was graduated with GPA 3.65 and obtain "Cumlaude" citation. During the process of undergraduate programme I studied about Biology and Environment, I studied about  biodiversity, natural resources inventory, environmental impact management, environnmental polution, wildlife ex-situ and in-situ conservation, environmental spatial analyze using GIS Software consisting ArcGIs, Erdas, Google Earth, and operating GPS.

In this time I have a plan to continue my study in Life Science. I would like to observe about biofuel as alternative energy. Indeed it seem controversial for Saudi goverment in view of crude oil is the main asset there. But my aim is Saudi Arabia still can mine crude oil for fuel but not used entirely in Saudi Arabia but it can  be exported to other countries, while in Saudi Arabia it can be used bioefuel as energy source. It is performed to keep economic and environmental  quality in  Saudi Arabia. By Increasing crude oil export which has been produced as fuel will enhance country profit. Besides that by using alternative energy in the country that first it can decreas operational cost, second it can decrease environmental degradation considering alternative energy is low residue, and third Saudi Arabia can play important role in green development.

Alternative energy is formed through Photobioreactor construction with microalgae material. Microalgae is  a group from plantae kingdom with microscopic size in the amount of 3-30 nanometer. Microalgae lives in whole fresh water and sea water. Photobioreactor is reactor assembled transparently using glass, acrylic and plastic. Photobioreactor technology valued effective for reducing CO₂ amount because  of microalgae ability  in absorbing CO₂ when photosynthesis process in afernoon. Utilization of solar energy in microalage production is solution in renewable energy usage.  Photobioreactor development beside beneficial for producing energy it can be also tourism by designing it with attractive design with best architecture.

To support my research I choose Life Science Master Programme at King Fahd University Petroleum & Mineral. This matter I take in view of one of King Fahd University Petroleum & Mineral vision is leadership energy discoveries with the misssion creating new knowledge that makes a scholarly impact, provides innovative solutions and contributes to the national economy supported by some values especially passion and creativity. Besides that, King Fahd University well-grounded in educating both  Saudi and non-Saudi people started in 1963 until now has passed 29.015 for Bachelor degree, 3.821 for Master degree and 257 for Doctoral or Ph.D degree.

I hope and pray to only Allah for achieving this scholarship. For me developing Saudi Arabia is equal to guard Islamic scholars  and moslem life. If my research plan accepted and implemented then it can be energy source especially for electricity even more in Masjidil Haram and Masjid Nabawi which contain a lot of Islamic knowledge, Islamic scholars and Worshiping activites so I would be the happiest person in the world because of in sha Allah it will be a lot of continuing flow reward from Allah until judgment day, furthermore to King Fahd University Petroleum & Mineral Scholarship promoter.

How to Teach English

             English is one of the international language with the number of speakers at the second  rank  in the world after Chinese language. Some countries have used English as their official language  as well as second language. While  in Indonesia English is  not used in daily life . Even so there is no reason for us as a nation of Indonesia not to learn English in view of the importance of that language  to support broader communication.

             To improve the ability of our nation in mastering English required the teaching process. The teaching process which is needed is  efficient and effective a teaching process  or in other words the teaching process that achieves an output even with all the limitations occured. Therefore  in this article will  be described  some tips for teaching English.

             First, understand  the pupil will be educated in terms of age, education level,  English proficeincy level and learning preferences. Before we teach we should do a survey of those terms because  age affects the ability to think, education levels affect patterns of thinking,  English proficiency level affects  the material to be taught later and learning preference  affects to  the presentantion of a material.

             Second, give the motivation about the importance of English and  the benefits will be gained from studying English , especially in economic aspect because human being is economic human who will not be tempted by "material". Begin with  focusing on big goals will be achieved is  better than start with the threat of small failures that will occured.

             Third, make English teaching lesson traced, structured, complete and easy to be understood. Present the lesson as a whole , not piece by piece that eventually make students confused. Lest leveling of material makes no material intact as was the case in the matter of tenses, in the first level are usually taught simple present and the present continuous tense at first level then taught the other tenses at upper level and so on. It will not be effective and efficient. Leveling in English teaching should be arranged from the most basic to the most complex case, for example, level 1 focus on the noun, pronoun and adjective, then level 2 of the adjective, subject, verb, and so on to discuss the most complicated thing and also  in teaching conversation, writting and listening.

             Fourth,intersperse the teaching process with the game that make student becomes more understand of the material being taught. The game can be done individually or in group. But keep in mind the game only an  "intermezzo", so the main focus remains on the teaching of English. But not all the students love the game, when the conditions such as that it can be used other alternatives such as watching Englsih video, listening to English poetry, English story telling  and so on.

             Fifth, Make sure the teacher prepare the lesson deeply and throughly because the main factor for best presentation is mastering the lesson. Endeavor don’t be present an uncertain answer and if the teacher doesn’t know the answer so answer with esteemed words as, “ may be we shall discuss this case viscerally next week in sha Allah.”
